Guinness Original Stout, also known as Guinness Extra Stout, is a globally celebrated beer known for its distinctive dark colour, rich creamy head, and unforgettable flavour. Originating from Arthur Guinness's St. James's Gate Brewery in Dublin, Ireland, in the 18th century, the brew's iconic facets have remained relatively unchanged for over two centuries.
The Guinness Stout is characterized by its deep dark ruby-red colour, almost appearing black. It has a unique opaque appearance due to the roasted barley used in its recipe. This roasting process also contributes to its characteristic taste, offering a blend of bitterness and subtle sweetness. Moreover, the brewing process also involves a nitrogen gas infusion which results in the stout's iconic smooth, creamy consistency, and distinctively thick frothy head.
With an ABV (Alcohol by Volume) typically ranging from 4.2% to 5%, Guinness Stout offers a moderate alcohol content compared to other beers. It’s known for not only its taste but also the craftsmanship with which it is brewed, poured, and presented. To drink it in the traditional style, it is poured into a glass at a 45-degree angle until it is three-quarters full, and then allowed to settle before filling the rest of the glass.
