Cosmopolitan

A Cosmopolitan, also known as a Cosmo, is a cocktail typically served in a large cocktail glass, also called a martini glass. It's known for its reddish-pink color that comes from one of its main ingredients, cranberry juice. Other ingredients include vodka, orange-infused liqueur, and a splash of lime for a zesty kick. This cocktail rose to fame in the 90s thanks to the popular television series, "Sex and the City".

Serving

  • Cosmopolitan is traditionally served in a large cocktail glass. The cocktail is ready to serve once it’s poured into the glass. You can add a thin slice of lime or a twist of lime peel as garnish.

Tips

  • - Make sure to shake the cocktail shaker until it’s frosty. That’s when you know it's ready.
  • - For a more intense flavor, you could use fresh cranberry juice.
  • - Always chill your glass before serving to keep your cocktail cool longer.

History

The Cosmopolitan likely originated in the 1970s, with different bartenders claiming its invention. However, it didn't shoot to fame until the 1990s, when it frequently appeared in the television show "Sex and the City." Ever since, it's been identified as a glamorous, feminine drink, perfect for a night out on the town.
